Gentlemen of the Bar ~ 1829

At a meeting of the gentlemen of the Bar attending Greene County Court,at August Term,
1829.John S.Hawks,Esq. was called to the chair,and Frederick S.Blount,Esq. appointed
Secretary,the following resolutions were introduced and adopted.
I.Resolved,That we participate with deep and unfeigned regret with the family and friends
of the late General VINE ALLEN,in the bereavement they have sustained by his sudden and
lamented death.
2.Resolved,That the Members of the Bar deeply feel the loss which the have sustained by
being deprived by this inscrutable decree of Providence of a virtuous and intelligent
member of their body,and an honest and useful member of so ev----.
3.Resolved,That as a testimonial of their respect for his memory,they will wear crepe on
their left arm for the space of thirty days.
4.Resolved,That a copy of these resolutions be forwarded to the family of the deceased.
5.Resolved,That the proceedings of this meeting be published in the North Carolina Sen-
tinel and Newbern Spectator.
