PUBLIC NOTICE
Is hereby given to each and every of the Officers and Soldiers individually and
collectively of the detatched militia of this State from the counties of Johnson
and Greene, who served under Captain Hymerick Hooker, from Wayne County,
under Capt. David Masden, from Lenoir County, under Lieut. Nathan Byrd, from
Craven, under Lieut. David Murdock & those of the Carteret regiment of Militia
who served at that time under a number of different Captains. That if by the
misconduct or negligence of any deputies, or through any mistake or
inadvertance whatsoever any one remains unpaid, or unsatisfied, whom it was
my duty to pay I earnestly request and thus publicly call upon him or them to
apply to me at my Office in the County of Carteret, for such amount of pay as
is actually due, for, although I have paid every cent confided to me for the
purpose, and advanced between 13 and S1400 cash of my own, previous to my
settling my accounts with the public, of which money from my individual funds,
not a cent has been paid me, nor a cent on account of my arduous and laborious
Services for two years: I am not only unwilling but anxious that no person shall
suffer any loss through their confidence in me.
Signed.
