I am seeking the name of the father of Thomas Wilson MOORE. This person is the grandfather of Robert Lee MOORE of New Bern NC. Thomas Wilson MOORE is buried in Rainbow Methodist Church outside of Snowhill. He also lived near there. If possible I would also like to know the mother of Thomas Wilson MOORE.

GIST, Richard born probably in the late 1700's in Cumberland County, North Carolina and died in Greene County, North Carolina after 1789. He had a son Richard R. GIST. I would like to find Richard’s wife and other children. Also would like the names of any other GISTs in that area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am seeking the father of Exum JOYNER (born around 1750) and who is also the grandfather of Amos JOYNER (born 1812). Exum JOYNER is not the same person as Exum L. JOYNER who was born later. There is some mention of Exum JOYNER in Nash, Greene and Sampson counties.

I am searching for any information on a William CARRAWAY, born about 1806, and his wife Feddora MURPHY, born about 1824. I think his father was Thomas CARRAWAY. William and Feddora had 9 children: Francie Jane, William Marcellus, Susan Caroline Edwards, Penny, Benjamin, Joshua, Henry, Jethro C., and another William(?). They lived in Greene County, I think.

I'm trying to connect my DARDEN family line to Greene County. The info I need is on Joseph Hardy DARDEN, born Sept. 25, 1841 in Snow Hill, Greene Co. NC and died April 30, 1917 in Kinston, Lenoir County, NC and is buried in Maplewood Cemetery. His parents were William S. and Margaret (JONES) DARDEN. He married approx. 1865 Nancy Susan HERRING. They had 9 children. I don't know any of the children's names. I'm especially interested in who his grandparents were. Thank you for any assistance.

DAVIS. I am searching for information on Blake DAVIS and his wife Rhoda. They lived in Greene Co. in the early 1800's. They had a son, Jesse T. DAVIS, who was born Sept. 30, 1829 in Greene Co. and later married Martha JONES. Jesse DAVIS was a minister in the Christian Church.

Researching the EDWARDS family of old Dobbs/Greene. Thos. EDWARDS had a son, Theophilus (1780 - 1864), who married Elizabeth SHEPPARD(1780-1864), dau of Benjamin SHEPPARD & 1st wife Elizabeth RUFFIN. William SHEPPARD, brother of Benjamin, had at least 3 daus, according to a Pitt 1819 deed, & need data on them, namely, Louisa md David JONES, Sophia md John GLASGOW, & Margaret md a SALTER. I am looking for information on Allen STANSEL/STANCIL/STANSELL, b. 1800 N.C. married to Rebecca or Rosetta. There are several STANSEL families in the Greene Co. North Carolina census records. His oldest son William B. STANCEL born 1831 in North Carolina. Other children Josephine, Sarah Matilda, Mary , Rosetta, Francis, Godfrey and Almita. Moved to Union Parish Louisiana between 1840 and 1846.

CHATHAM, CARKLIN

I am looking for any information on William Derias CHATHAM. Derias was born in Greene County,North Carolina circa 1781. He moved to Putnam County, Georgia where he married Elizabeth CARKLIN in 1815. Derias CHATHAM died and was buried in Jackson, Mississippi in 1820. We don't know when he migrated west to Mississippi. Any information would be appreciated. Derias is the earliest person of our family line anyone has traced.

I am looking for ancestral information regarding my grandparents John Marshall SURLES and Leta JACKSON who were married in 1902. In 1920 they resided in Greenville, NC and had seven children Isabel, Johnnie Ray, Anna Ruth, Lillian, Eugene, Doris, and Lucille. Doris and Lucille later died and another daughter was born in 1921 either by the name Katie or Caroline. Leta died in the late 1930's. John M. SURLES died in December, 1948. I believe they lived most of their lives in this area but at one time could have resided in Kinston, NC. I believe there are still JACKSON cousins living in the area.
