  Copy of this will filed in Will Book 1 pp.120-121 Greene County Clerk of Court Transcribed by Mike Edge Feb. 2007 Last Will & Testament of Jesse Wood In the name of God I Jesse Wood Amen, that I Jesse Wood of the county of Greene and State of North Carolina that I am in my sound mind & memory in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty eight - June the 15th day. that I Jesse Wood this day do hereby these presents do acknowledge that this is my last will and testament do hereby beseech & behoof unto my beloved wife the land where I now live with all it's premises and improvments then belonging to it her natural life time and Murphy place to and all houshold & kitchen furniture and farming tools and all corn and fodder, Bacon, Horses, Hogs, Sheep & cattle. Carts and riding carriage to her natural life time in widow-hood & to keep my children together & school them 2 I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Harper, Pridgen tract of land Negro boy Bryant and Movey? that all what intend do and if the rest of children should die with any heir of lawful heirs of their body that is all that I intend for her. 3 I give unto daughter Loucettie, Charles whenever she leaves or marries 4 I give unto daughter Compense, George whenever she leaves or marries 5 I give unto daughter Jinnett, Ephrum whenever she leaves or marries 6 I give unto daughter Arrena, Sarah whenever she leaves or marries 7 I give unto daughter Jesse Ann, Fran whenever she leaves or marries 8 I give unto daughter Elmira [ no slave name entered ] whenever she leaves or marries 9 I give unto daughter Elany, Eayden whenever she leaves or marries The remainder of my Negroes that is not named to be divided between my seven youngest Daughters after the death of my wife, and land & home tract and Murphy tract and all stock, other articles that are not named.
