Mary “Polly” Creech (15 May 1800 Lenoir Co. — 17 March 1870 Lenoir Co.), dau of Ezekiel Creech (b. 1775 - d. btw 1840 -1850) and Mary Elizabeth ?Stevens, granddau. of Ezekiel Creech, Sr. (1755) and Mary Caldwell. 2. Mary “Polly” Hill (3 May 1792 - 3 Feb, 1856) m. Benajah “Benjamin”, “Ben” Dixon (11 Feb. 1786 - 9 Mar. 1834) on 4 June 1807. Ben was the son of Murphrey Dixon and Mourning Ann Garner. 3. Robert “Robin” Hill, Ill (b.ca 1793) m. Elizabeth “Betsy” Spivey (b.1799). They were listed in the 1850 Census in Greene Co. 4. Nancy Hill (b.ca 1797) m. John Dixon, son of Shadrack Dixon and Elizabeth Patrick from Greene Co. They moved to Johnston Co. 5 Aldridge Hill (b.ca 1800, was listed as age 60 in Greene Co. Census) m. Martha “Patsy” Quinn (b.ca 1812- age 48 in 1860 Census) 6 Henry Hill (b.ca 1800 - was listed in 1850 Greene Co. Census) m. (1) Elizabeth “Betsy” Rouse (d. prior 1850) m. (2) Marinda Sugg (b. 1828) 7 Penelope “Penny” Hill (b. 1802 - buried Wayne Co. according to Wayne Co. Cemetery Books) m. Needham Waters (7 Oct. 1802 - 12 Apr. 1857) on 5 Aug. 1838. 8 Martha “Patsy”, “Patty” Hill (b.1809) m. Alexander “Alex”, “Eli” Hill on 19 Nov. 1848. He was son of Richard and Mary Hill. His first wife was Finetta Rouse (1812- 1848) 9 Elizabeth “Lizzy” Hill (b.ca 1801/10 - c.1808 according to 1850 Census) is probably buried in the Tyndall Cemetery in Greene Co. where her husband is buried m. Bryant Tyndall (6 Oct. 1813 - 18 Sept. 1896) 10 Avey “Avery”, “Ava” Hill (b.ca 1810/14) m. William “Bill” Farmer, son of Jesse and Winifred Farmer 11 Smithy Hill (b.ca 1808 -19 June 1880) m. John Hill (19 Dec. 1810 -19 Sept. 1887), her cousin, son of Hardy Hill and Catherine Freeman 12 Easther “Esther” Aldridge Hill (b.ca 1808/10) m. Henry Sugg (1795- 1862), son of Aquilla Sugg and Nancy Hill. She was his second wife. 13 Richard Hill, Jr. (b.1815 - listed in 1850 Greene Co. Census) m. (1) ca 1837 Elizabeth “Betsy” Quinn (1817- ca. 1858) m. (2) Vickie Weatherington of Kinston, NC. Tradition says he served in the Civil War and never returned. 14 John D. “Jack” Hill (b.1816 - was in 1850 Greene Co. Census) m. Rachel Moore DESCENDANTS OF RICHARD HILL AND ESTHER ALDRIDGE Through DREWRY HILL AND MARY (POLLY) CREECH 1. Elvy Hill (23 Sept. 1820 - 11 May 1855) — did not marry 2. Richard M. Hill (28 Nov. 1821 - 6 May 1865) m. (1) Elizabeth “Betty” Bell (d. 1912), dau. of Penelope Creech Bell, Mary Creech Hill’s sister. Betty married a second time to Richard B. Taylor 3. William R. Hill (19 Aug. 1823 - 18 Apr. 1877) m. Mary Catherine Jones (16 Sept. 1835 - 4 Sept. 1908), dau. of John F. Jones and Nancy Hodges. William is buried in the Hill/Jones/Hartsfield Cemetery on Highway 258, Lenoir Co. 4. Drewry Aldridge Hill (21 June 1825 - 24 Nov. 1866) m. Eliza Pridgen (d. 24 June 1860). They were probably married before 1850 as Drewry A. is not listed in the Drewry Hill household in the 1850 Lenoir Co. Census. 5. Mary Hill (1 June 1827 -— 16 July 1859) did not marry 6. John D. Hill (17 Feb. 1829 - 1 Nov. 1881) m. Sarah Ann “Sallie” Jones (2 Nov. 1831 - 3 May 1901), dau of John F. Jones and Nancy Hodges. John D. and Sallie are buried in the John D. Hill Cemetery on the Hill farm near Wheat Swamp, Lenoir Co. 7. Martha “Patsey” Hill (25 Jan. 1831 - Aug. 1882) m. Josiah Sutton, Jr., son of Josiah Sutton, Sr. and Nancy Hill, who lived in the Bucklesberry Section of Lenoir Co. 8 Easther “Easter” Hill (20 Jan. 1833 - 7 May 1833) 9 Elizabeth Hill (26 Apr. 1834 - 2 July 1885) m. James Franklin Jones (10 Aug. 1833 -— 3 May 1863), son of James F. Jones and Nancy Hodges. Elizabeth is buried in the John D. Hill Cemetery and James has a marker there. He was killed at Chancellorsville and was buried in a National Cemetery at Fredericksburg as an unknown. 10 Hardy Hill (20 Apr. 1836 - 16 Mar. 1880) m. Susan E.. Hardy and was listed in the Kinston Township, Lenoir Co. in the 1870 Census. 11. Easther Hill, 2nd (16 Mar. 1839 -— 17 Oct. 1894) — did not marry, was listed as living with John D. and Sallie Hill in the 1880 Lenoir Co. Census. She is probably buried in the John D. Hill Cemetery at Wheat Swamp. 12. Nathan B. Hill (18 Aug. 1841 - 22 Oct. 1862) died at Petersburg in Civil War. DESCENDANTS OF RICHARD HILL AND ESTHER ALDRIDGE HILL through DREWRY HILL AND MARY (POLLY) CREECH HILL through JOHN D. HILL AND SARAH ANN (SALLIE) JONES HILL John D. Hill (17 Feb. 1829 Lenoir Co. -— 1 Nov. 1881 Lenoir Co.) m. Sarah Ann “SaIlie” Jones (2 Nov. 1831 Greene Co. - 3 May 1901 Lenoir Co.) Date of marriage is not known, but John D. was single and living in Kinston in 1860 Census, a border in the Reuben Barrow household. He was in the Civil War, was discharged as permanantly disabled, and he and Sallie had their first child in 1866, therefore we guess that they were married after he returned from the war. Sallie was the dau. of John F. Jones and Nancy Hodges from Greene Co. John D. Hill died when their oldest child, Franklin D. was only 15 years old. John and Sallie are buried in the John D. Hill Cemetery on the family farm in the Wheat Swamp section of Lenoir Co. 1. Franklin D. Hill (24 Apr. 1866 Lenoir Co. - 17 May 1932 Lenoir Co.) m. in Dec. 1896 to Esbrann Walters (8 June 1876 Lenoir Co.- 12 July 1956 Lenoir Co.), dau of Needham Walters (13 July 1819 - 28 Dec. 1900) and Nancy Jane Sutton (25 July 1836 -— 1902). Needham Walters’ parents were Daniel and Celia Walters; Nancy Jane Sutton’s parents were James “Jimmie” Sutton and Susan Walters. Frank and Esbrann are buried at Fairview Cemetery, LaGrange, NC. 2. Thomas R. Hill (15 Feb. 1869 Lenoir Co. - 3 Jan. 1928 Lenoir Co.) — never married. Thomas is buried in the John D. Hill Cemetery, Wheat Swamp, Lenoir Co. 3. Susan Elizabeth “Lizzie” Hill (1871 - 8 July 1908) m. Simon Franklin Faulkner (2 Nov. 1864 – 1 Feb. 1907) on 12 Dec. 1901. Frank was the son of James and Nancy Faulkner. Lizzie and Frank had no children and are buried in the Maplewood Cemetery, Kinston, NC. HILL AND ESBRANN WALTERS HILL Franklin D. Hill (24 Apr. 1866 Lenoir Co.-17 May 1932) m. Esbrann Walters (8 June 1876 Lenoir Co.- 12 July 1956 Lenoir Co.) were married in Dec. 1896 with Frank’s cousins Lee Hill and Nathan Hill as witnesses. They lived in the John D. and Sallie Jones Hill family home at Wheat Swamp, Lenoir County. 1. James Paul Hill (12 Oct. 1897 Lenoir Co. - 8 July 1979 Lenoir Co.) m. Doris Smith (29 Apr. 1916 - 2 Mar. 2001 Pitt Co.). They had one child. Paul and Doris are buried at Westview Cemetery, Kinston, NC. 2. Mabel Susan Hill (24 July 1900 Lenoir Co.-14 Nov. 1922 Lenoir Co.) Mabel contracted pneumonia in 1922 and died unmarried. She is buried at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange, NC. 3. Nancy Jane Hill (7 Oct. 1902 Lenoir Co. - 25 Oct. 1996 Lenoir Co.) m. Robert Leland Johnson (25 Nov. 1896 - 7 Dec. 1959 Lenoir Co.) They had no children. Nancy and Leland are buried at Westview Cemetery, Kinston, NC. 4. Sarah Ann “Sallie” Hill (30 Nov. 1904 Lenoir Co.- 22 June 1989 Greene Co.) m. Owen Thomas Jones (12 May 1906 - 5 Aug. 1985 Greene Co.) They had two children. Sallie and Owen are buried in the Snow Hill Cemetery, Greene Co. 5. Roscoe Franklin “Bud” Hill (6 Oct. 1906 Lenoir Co. - 28 May 1981 Union Co., NC) m. Dorothy Estelle Daly on 28 Nov. 1933 (2 Feb. 1912 Lenoir Co. - 5 April 1979 Lenoir Co.) They had one child. Roscoe and Dorothy are buried at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange, NC. 6. John Roy “Johnnie” Hill (30 Nov. 1908 Lenoir Co. - 9 May 1979 Lenoir Co.) m. Laura Ormond (23 Oct. 1910 Greene Co. - 6 Apr. 2001 Greene County). They had one child. Johnnie and Laura are buried at Pinelawn Cemetery, Kinston, NC. 7. Needham Earl Hill (19 June 1911 Lenoir Co. - 4 Aug. 1982 Lenoir Co.) m. McGlee Edwards (7 Sept. 1912 Greene Co. - 29 July 1998 Lenoir Co.) They adopted one child. Earl and McGlee are buried at Westview Cemetery, Kinston, NC. 8. Cecil Colon Hill (5 Oct. 1913 Lenoir Co. - 21 Jan. 1989 Lenoir Co.) m. Bettie Lucille Sutton (17 Apr. 1915 Lenoir County – 23 Dec. 2007 ). They had two children. Cecil and Lucille are buried at Fairview Cemetery, LaGrange, NC. 9. Hazel May Hill (9 Feb. 1916 Lenoir Co.- 19 Oct. 2004 Pitt Co) m. Dewey Johnson (23 Oct. 1916- 22 July 1988). They had two children. Hazel and Dewey are buried at Westview Cemetery, Kinston, NC. 10. Homer Harold Hill (14 Jan. 1918 Lenoir Co.- 27 June 2001 Lenoir County ) m. Mary Nina Barrow (16 Nov. 1923 Greene County - - ) They had one child. Homer is buried at Fairview Cemetery, LaGrange, NC.
