COLIE, CADE, MOORING, BRADSHAW, EDMUNDSON/EDMONDSON
Jan Norwood 1/24/97
I recently found the name of the man who started the fires in Kinston in the 1800's. One of them was J.B. COLIE. I think the initials may have stood for James Bryant COLIE. He was the son of Jim COLIE, I think. Jim COLIE came from the north to work on building the Mullet Track which was the railroad from the coast to Kinston. I am interested in the CADE family as well. Noah COLIE, son of Jim, brother of JB was my great-grandfather. He married Marth CADE. I am also seeking information on the MOORING (Burrell, John, Wiley) family because my paternal great grandmother may have been Susan MOORING. She married Benjamin Jefferson BRADSHAW. Seeking information on the BRADSHAWs as well. Also looking for information on Hubbard EDMUNDSON(EDMONDSON) and Parthenia BRADSHAW.

Seeking information on Richard HODGES (b.1740's- d.1800/05), believed to be son of Francis HODGES, SR., and Frances CARRUTHERS of New Bern, who was living in Dobbs County near Wheat Swamp at the time of the American Revolution. He had (I think) two sons: (1) Richard HODGES, JR., (d. 1842, Wayne County), who married Lydia DAWSON (b. 1792), dght. of Thomas DAWSON and Elizabeth HARDY, and (2) Edward HODGES (b. ca. 1780-d. 1815/20, Lenoir County), who was the first husband of Catherine ARENDELL (b. 1780's- d. 1830's), dght. of William ARENDELL (will dated 1822) of Lenoir County. There were likely several daughters as well. Brothers Joshua HODGES and Francis HODGES, JR. are known to have relocated to Burke and Bulloch Counties, Georgia, in the 1780's. Another brother, Hardy HODGES, may have died in the revolution. I am especially interested in knowing the name of Richard's wife, and in obtaining any information available on his son, Edward.

CANADY/CANNADAY/KENADY, CREECH
Arlene Owen 1/6/97
I seek information on the Benjamin CANADY, KENADY, CANNADAY line. He was, I beleive, born in Lenoir County and married Sarah or Frances CREECH. Maybe Sarah Frances. I have him listed as age 38 in the 1850 Census, but I have a question mark because I also show him in the 1860 Census as age 67 and in the 1870 Census as age 78. In the 1850 Census, the children are listed as: William CANNADY- Age 19, Susan Jane CANNADY- Age 17, Wyatt CANNADY - Age 13, John B. CANNADY - age 11. I have a note that Wyatt died in the Civil War. I have a note that Benjamin may be the brother of a Henry that married a Penelope UNK and that his father's name may have been Henry and that Henry may have been the son of John and that the family possibly immigrated from Scotland. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.
